Suspension consists of a girder leaf-spring front end and plunger shocks mounted to the frame in the rear. The rebuilt wire-spoke wheels feature black rims, and braking is from drums at both ends. Additional features consist of a brown sprung solo saddle and a side stand. Reproduction engine and rear guards have been fitted, as has a new old-stock exhaust system. The dual fuel tanks and non-skirted fenders are finished in Police Gray, and as a wartime model, the bike features a chrome speedometer ring as the only brightwork. This Chief was acquired by the seller in 2014 and is offered with period literature, spare parts, judging certificates, restoration records and photos, and a clean New Hampshire title in the seller’s name. Features include a girder front end, rear plunger shocks, non-skirted fenders, and drum brakes as well as modifications such as a Rubber Ducky carburetor float, electronic ignition, and a sealed six-volt gel battery. The bike was reportedly acquired by its previous owner as a box of parts in 2005, and was subsequently restored in Police Gray over the next nine years. This 1945 Indian Chief is a wartime example that was originally built for essential civilian use and is powered by a 74ci flathead V-twin paired with a three-speed transmission.
